If you are looking at real estate as an opportunity to simply buy it and watch it go up in value, then at least for the short term, don't pick real estate as your investment vehicle. However, if you are willing to take some time to learn how to buy at the bottom of the market, then you might be able to make a decent investment and have some fun in the process.
